FAQ
What is BSCI certification?
BSCI is the Business Social Compliance Initiative, an audit program run by amfori that checks factory working conditions rather than product quality. Our audit reviewed 13 performance areas including working hours, wages, child labor prevention, health and safety, and freedom of association. Passing means European and North American buyers can place orders without running their own factory inspection.
Which parts of the factory does the audit cover?
Auditors walked the cutting, sewing, webbing, and packing lines, checked payroll and timekeeping records, and interviewed workers privately. They also reviewed chemical storage, fire exits, first aid stations, and dormitory conditions where applicable. Findings were closed on site, and the corrective action log is available to buyers during due diligence.
Does certification change your MOQ or lead time?
No. MOQ stays at 100 pieces per model, with trial orders of about 50 pieces. Samples ship in 5-7 days and production runs 20-30 days after approval. A social compliance audit adds no premium to unit price, because the working conditions it measures were already in place before the audit. Buyers gain documented proof.
How can we verify the certificate?
Check the audit date, the factory legal name, and the registered audit company on the report itself, then confirm the record through the amfori database. We supply the full report and certificate under NDA to qualified buyers. The certificate is renewed on a scheduled cycle, and we share the latest version rather than an expired copy.
Which social topics scored highest and lowest?
Working hours and compensation scored strongly; both are documented through payroll and timekeeping systems. Fire safety and chemical handling needed extra investment in signage and training, which we completed before the audit closed. Military and police buyers increasingly ask for the report during supplier qualification, so we keep an updated copy ready.
